Established in 1965 as a ‘Libera Università’, Università degli Studi G. d’Annunzio of Chieti (UdA) became state-owned in 1982. Since then, its mission has been to broaden the frontiers of knowledge in all fields, from Humanities to Economics, from Architecture to Neurosciences and Legal Sciences, from Medicine to Biomedical Engineering and Geology, as well as promoting an understanding of the world in which we live. In 2020 it enrolled 36.000 students, coming from all over Italy and the Adriatic regions.
International research and excellence in teaching are among the most important activities that UdA’s teaching and administrative staff pursue, day after day. In order to build up a global vision meeting the changing demands of work life and promoting well-being in society, every academic year UdA coordinates several European and international research projects and attracts brilliant European and international minds through its visiting scholar program.
With its cutting-edge facilities and laboratories, such as the Laboratorio di Ricerca Centro di Studi e Tecnologie Avanzate (CAST laboratory); with its academic spinoffs and its two campuses (one in the hills of Chieti and the other by the coast in Pescara); with its two schools and 13 Departments offering blended teaching and mobiliy programs, libraries and digital libraries, UdA attracts countless high–profile international students, professionals and academics every year. Through European and international partnerships, Erasmus plus and overseas student and staff mobility programmes, with its research projects and teaching excellence, UdA promotes the advancement of knowledge and research nationally and internationally and invests in strategic partnerships with world-class institutions, renowned university networks, private and public companies.
