The University "Gabriele d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara has completed two training cycles within the framework of the VOICE Project, contributing to the project's pilot implementation in Italy and promoting digital inclusion, lifelong learning, employability, and social participation among Ukrainian refugees and members of local communities.
The first training cycle took place in Pescara on 8–10 and 15–16 June 2026. Held in collaboration with Caritas Pescara, it recorded 54 attendances, including 20 Ukrainian participants and 34 members of the local community and participants from other backgrounds. Over five training days, participants took part in activities addressing employability, entrepreneurship, digital competences, communication, and social inclusion, while testing the VOICE learning methodology and educational resources.
Building on the experience of the June pilot, and in collaboration with the SAI centres (Reception and Integration System) run by Medihospes ONLUS, the University organised a second training cycle in Teramo on 7 and 17 July 2026 and in Roseto degli Abruzzi on 8 July 2026. The July activities recorded 20 attendances, including 11 Ukrainian participants and 9 members of the local community and participants from other backgrounds.
Throughout the training, participants engaged actively with the VOICE OER Platform. The sessions combined presentations, exercises, collaborative activities, and discussions, encouraging participants to explore the platform and apply its resources to educational, professional, and everyday contexts.
The training activities also contributed to the validation of the VOICE educational model: quantitative and qualitative data provided valuable evidence on participation, accessibility, engagement, and the applicability of the project's educational resources in multilingual and multicultural learning contexts.
By bringing together Ukrainian refugees, members of local communities, trainers, and higher education students, and by working with local stakeholders such as Caritas and Medihospes ONLUS, the VOICE project contributes to creating more inclusive learning opportunities and to supporting social and professional integration through innovative digital learning solutions.
The experience and evidence gathered during the pilot activities in Abruzzo will support the continued refinement, dissemination, and exploitation of the project's results. The consortium will continue to promote the uptake of the VOICE OER Platform among learners, educators, public institutions, and organisations working in the fields of education, employment, and social inclusion across Europe.
