The Caritas Foundation of the Archdiocese of Pescara-Penne ONLUS, active since 1999, works to support individuals and families experiencing social and economic vulnerability, promoting pathways toward autonomy and preventing all forms of exclusion. Human dignity is placed at the center of every intervention, through listening, reception, social inclusion and proximity-based support, carried out in collaboration with public institutions, schools, healthcare services and third-sector organizations.
Its work is developed across eight interconnected areas, which operate in synergy to ensure continuity and integrated care. Migrant reception, through C.A.S. centers, provides first-level hospitality and support to asylum seekers with legal and psychological assistance, orientation and Italian language courses. In continuity, the migrant inclusion area accompanies refugees and unaccompanied minors within S.A.I. projects, strengthening housing and employment autonomy and preventing exploitation, while intercultural mediation facilitates access to services and fosters positive relationships across communities, operating within reception centers and local schools.
Alongside these services, the Family area offers comprehensive support to households and individuals facing material, educational or employment difficulties through personalized accompaniment and poverty-prevention measures. The Health area ensures long-term assistance for people with severe health vulnerabilities, particularly through the “Il Samaritano” Family Home, which for over twenty years has welcomed and supported people living with HIV/AIDS.
Immediate needs linked to extreme poverty are addressed through the Emergencies area, which provides meals, shelter, showers, solidarity markets and rapid social assistance, delivered in collaboration with volunteers and the local community. The Justice area reinforces this network of care by supporting the social and occupational reintegration of people involved in the judicial system through community service, probation programs and pathways toward full autonomy.
Young people play an essential role in this mission through Young Caritas, which promotes active citizenship and solidarity by coordinating the National Civil Service and offering school-based workshops and volunteer experiences.
Through these interconnected actions, the Foundation builds daily relationships of proximity and promotes a culture of solidarity, contributing to a more just, inclusive and cohesive community.
